Janet Brewer

Chief Executive Officer
Janet received her Masters Degree in Education from Simmons College in 2004.  For twenty years, she worked in the public school arena teaching and advocating for children with unique learning needs.  As a special education teacher and reading specialist, she has written hundreds of IEP and 504 plans.   She is the proud parent of three children, Christopher and Stephen who both have severe hemophilia A, and daughter Mikayla, who is a carrier. As the sibling of a brother with hemophilia born in the 1970’s she has vast personal experience and knowledge of living with this disorder. At the age of ten, her son Stephen was diagnosed with an inhibitor, which totally changed their lifestyle of living with hemophilia.  Living life with hemophilia is completely different from living life with hemophilia and an inhibitor.
Over the years, Janet has served as the Alternate Director for Region I for the National Hemophilia Foundation, as well as volunteered with her local chapter, New England Hemophilia Association. Janet has served as the Director of Program Development and Education for FactorHealth Management, where she developed and presented educational programs for members of the hemophilia community. She has written articles and presented at chapter symposiums on advocating for your child and developing 504 or IEPs for those affected by hemophilia.
On a national level, she has spoken with her son Stephen on the impact of inhibitors, immune tolerance therapies and use of plasma derived products. Janet has spoken at a local level to educate school nurses and personnel, as well as to the medical students at her son’s treatment center to educate them about living with a bleeding disorder.
