About Inhibitor Family Camp

There are currently 50+ camps across the country that serve the bleeding disorders community;  however, none address the unique needs of those living with inhibitors.

The Painted Turtle

The location of our third Inhibitor Family Camp couldn't be better!  The Painted Turtle situated in the foothills of Angeles National Forest in Lake Hughes, California, was founded in 1999 by actor Paul Newman and Page Adler.  It was the sixth addition to the Paul Newman family of Hole in the Wall Camps.  It is the only camp of its kind for children with serious illnesses and their families on the west coast.

Note:  By clicking on the The Painted Turtle logo above, you will be directed to The Painted Turtle Camp site.  CHES is not liable for claims and/or statements made on the site.

The fun never stops at The Painted Turtle with activities that include arts & crafts, archery, boating & fishing, and horseback riding.

Each family will be assigned a "camp pal" for the weekend. Your "camp pal" will show you around and help take care of your children, while providing parents time to attend educational sessions. But don't worry; we left lots of unstructured time so the parents can play too!
